Project Management

THE PROJECT The initial client (Wojiech - pronounced War-Check) was based in Poland and flew into Dubai twice during the project. The rest of the time it was our responsibility to keep him and the international team fully updated and engaged on the project progress. Half-way through the project, it was acquired by Abbott, which meant that the project slowed down significantly until we were clear on what the impact, if any, the new brand standards for Abbott would have. Despite several issues with installations and workmanship, there were very few changes and the contractor delivered an impressive output, which was celebrated throughout the company. OUR APPOINTMENT Having successfully delivered a similar project with similar constraints, we were recommended to Abbott and the initial client by an existing client of ours. We conducted numerous site visits every week, sending interim progress photos to the client via a WhatsApp group chat. The standard reports would be emailed weekly also as per the agreement. We oversaw the complete refurbishment and fit out of its office space. The office contained modern office spaces with meeting rooms, individual office spaces, and common areas. The project programme was compact owing to the nature of the work and we were able to deliver successfully within the allotted timeframe.

THE BENEFIT Throughout the whole programme, we coordinated with the team from Poland throughout the entire project and managed to deliver it on time and within budget. We had carried out our ‘trademark’ due diligence on 6 contractors for this seemingly simple project with a view of shortlisting it down to just three for the client’s final decision. This client benefited from our tender process and procurement as well as our agility in modifying requirements at the time of its acquisition by Abbott. We were able to continue our diligent to fit out their office space inclusive of satisfying the new stringent brand guidelines of its new international brand.
