Project Management
THE PROJECT Resulting from its rapid regional expansion, the network required to grow their infrastructure and facilities to keep pace and maintain a competitive edge. The OSN Campus Extension consisted of a total refurbishment of an existing building situated directly adjacent to their main facility. We managed the demolition of all existing office space before taking on the task of the complete re-fit out. The fit out work included three floors, two studios and the full suite of ancillary technical spaces. Additionally, we managed the completion of two ground floor receptions, staff areas, a cafeteria, the Central Apparatus Room (CAR) and upgrades to their MEP infrastructure. OUR APPOINTMENT To carry out a meaningful and thorough exercise to befit OSN’s requirements we first conducted an initial assessment and feasibility of the building that OSN had eyed for its extension project. We helped to create and develop the client’s brief based on their requirements. Upon completion and full commitment to the brief, we then appointed an architect and interior designer to suggest design schemes. We worked with the client through several design iterations before stakeholders selected their preference and works commenced. We managed multiple stakeholders throughout the process and guided the works across several layers simultaneously to meet the budget and timeline for this project.
THE BENEFIT The technical requirements of a media and broadcast facility and corresponding offices require a specific skill set and level of expertise to ensure broadcast continuity. Due to our experience, we were able to identify risks in the existing buildings MEP services. The original building pre-dated the current statutory regulations. We quickly established a separate team to create the missing as-builts, identifying what of the existing systems could feasibly be upgraded to current regulatory standards, and liaising with the local authorities to obtain the required approvals. OSN benefited from our ability to upgrade successfully and avoid costly new installations while obtaining an operational facility with room to expand further.
