Project Management
THE PROJECT The project was delivered to Economic Zones World (EZW) along with GE. EZW is the global developer and operator of economic zones, technology, logistics and industrial parks under the Dubai World Group. EZW’s current portfolio includes Jafza, one of the world’s largest free zones. The GE “One Roof” project was a fast track program for the construction and fit out of a 14,000 square meter facility consisting of five different Oil and Gas divisions. The facility was divided into approximately 7,500 sqm. of industrial workshops and 6,500 sqm. of executive office space. OUR APPOINTMENT EZW employed us to manage both the base-build and fit-out of the entire facility. Our task was to act as client representative for and on behalf of the main stakeholders within both EZW and GE. Our role was to ensure that the base-build development was in line with the developer’s requirements (EZW) and specifications. We also ensured that the fit out was as per the needs of the end user. We assisted EZW in the selection of the base-build contractor, managed deployment, and managed the design and prepared the tender for the fit out works.
THE BENEFIT Although we were appointed following the dismissal of another project management firm, we quickly picked up where our predecessors had left off. We assisted EZW in the selection of the base-build contractor and managed their deployment and works. We then managed the design and prepared the Tender for the fit out works and assisted GE’s procurement department with the reconciliation of tender, contractor selection and award and commencement of fit out works. We proceeded to manage all aspects of the build, coordinate with the many different consultants and contractors and to help ensure the project’s successful delivery.
