In an area known for its water sport and leisure opportunities The Watermark stands out for its stunning timber lodges and local Cotswold stone buildings that sit comfortably amongst the lakes.

THE PROJECT An ex-quarry site consisting of sandpit lakes near Cirencester, creating a new leisure lake including new jetties, visitor centre/club house, boathouse and accommodation lodges. The project involved extensive remodelling of the lake, the creation of roads, paving and car and boat trailer parking with street lighting, signage and was fully landscaped throughout. 71 accommodation lodges were erected surrounding the large lake, each timber framed lodge was approximately 1,000 sq ft across two storeys with attractive feature glazing and balcony looking out on the lakeside. A clubhouse/visitor centre was built in a timber frame on a single storey; this houses all the communal facilities available to guests. There is also a boathouse, which was a single storey pitched roof on timber posts, as well as a children’s play area. OUR APPOINTMENT We were appointed to undertake the pre contract works which consisted of preparing budgets, checking tenders on costing and proposal of works and preparing contracts. The post contract works included agreeing variations and the final account.
THE BENEFIT Independent cost analysis and assessment of proposals, overseeing the works to ensure agreement of variations during site works and that the conditions of the contract were met and all parties were in alignment. this was an exciting project that worked out well. We were very pleased to have been involved in this regeneration scheme that brought back into leisure use one part of an area that had long ago been lost to nature.
