THE PROJECT The unit situated within a busy pedestrianized area with a beautiful frontage came with a number of challenges due to the buildings listed status, a great deal of additional work to agree details and finishes was required, including retaining many of the building characteristic features. The Contractor was faced with programming obstacles; due to the loading restrictions a space away from the site was rented for the purpose of storing materials and kit in order for it to be brought to site within the delivery window, and closely tying in with the landlords work to reinforce the floors, creating more challenges with communication. Welfare facilities and access to site. OUR APPOINTMENT Initially our role was to carry out the quantity surveying and cost control element of the project, but as the project progressed our team’s input was called on more and more. The first hurdle to overcome was in the planning consent. Due to the listed building status the applicant was lengthy and time consuming, involving many meetings with the local authorities to come to an agreement. Our team were able to achieve an outcome all parties approved of, and the finished restaurant looks smart and functions well in the location.

THE BENEFIT WHP stepped up to the task of seeing this project to completion by carrying out the handover and snagging whilst maintaining close contact with the Main Contractor and Five Guys teams. We were able to provide the missing link that occurred when a new Five Guys France team had been instructed, but had struggled to achieve the project management level required to finish the site.
